Atlanta – July 15, 2015 – On July 2, a North Carolina resident won a Carolina Cash 5 lottery for the amount of $227,196 using Atlanta-based Linq3’s Play at the Pump™ technology platform — the largest payout to date using the increasingly popular gas pump game technology.

The North Carolina Education Lottery, the fourth state lottery to offer tickets at the pump, is leveraging this innovative technology to reach more players.

“Every business must stay on top of changes in technology to remain relevant in today’s marketplace,” said Alice Garland, executive director of the Education Lottery. “Many lottery players will continue to buy tickets inside their favorite stores, but Play At The Pump makes it convenient for others to participate. By staying up with the times, we can attract new customers and build on our success raising money for a good cause.”

This new lottery service leverages existing equipment at the North Carolina retail location and provides an easy-to-use interface for customers to simply swipe their debit card at the gas pump, follow a few prompts and get their Quick Pick numbers delivered on their smartphone. And if a player wins, up to $599, the prize is automatically credited to their card.

Currently, Play At The Pump is offered at locations in North Carolina, California, Missouri and Minnesota, including all Murphy USA and Express stores.

“Lotteries and retailers have a new opportunity to grow sales and profits by selling lottery draw games at the pump,” said Daniel Cage, CEO of Linq3. “Our Play At The Pump service is interactive and designed as a convenience for fuel customers to add a lottery ticket when filling up simply by swiping their credit or debit card.”
